According to sources, The Washington Post has decided to shut down its gaming news section Launcher, said Axios reporter Sara Fischer.
Fischer shared via Twitter a memo written by The Washington Post Executive Editor Sally Buzbee that mentions the elimination of “20 current newsroom positions” as well as the cancellation of 30 open positions at The Washington Post.
Though the memo doesn’t mention Launcher, sources told Fischer about the cancellation of Launcher and KidsPost (a section devoted to students from grades 2 through 7).
Launcher made its debut on October 15, 2019 (archive | screenshot). The closing of Launcher is one of a string of layoffs that also involved GameSpot, Giant Bomb, G4, Vox, Enthusiast Gaming, Fanbyte, and many other publications.
