The PlayStation 5 landed in first place with more console units sold than the second-place Nintendo Switch OLED Model in Japan game console sales for the week of January 16-22, 2023. This is one of the very few times Sony has taken first place with a PS5 model in individual console sales (38,602 PS5s vs. 28,626 Switch OLEDs).
In overall console sales, there were 51,587 Nintendo Switch units, which is 53.0125063% of all console units sold during the mentioned week. Meanwhile, Sony stayed in second place with 42,152 PS5 units sold combined for the week (43.31678844% of all console units sold). Microsoft only sold 945 Xbox Series units, which is less than the amount of PS4 units (2,544) in the week.
