Yesterday, Niantic and The Pokémon Company announced the addition of Latin American Spanish-language support for Pokémon GO at the Comic Culture Experience CCXP Convention in Mexico City.
Pokémon GO was first released in the US, Australia and New Zealand on July 6, 2016, and in Puerto Rico on July 19, 2016. It later became available for players in Latin America and Caribbean Islands on August 3, 2016. However, Latin American Spanish support was missing at launch.
Both Niantic and The Pokémon Company also announced updates specific to the region, ” including a month-long in-game celebration across Latin America to commemorate the occasion.”
Among the new challenges for fans in the Latin American region:
Field Research: Trainers will be able to complete Field Research tasks that reward encounters with Pokémon like Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. Lucky trainers may encounter a Shiny one! Certain Field Research tasks will also award Mega Energy and Pokémon Candy.
Timed Research: Until June 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time, Trainers will be able to complete special Timed Research that will award items—including a Star Piece, a Super Incubator, and Rare Candy—as well as encounters with the following Pokémon: Lapras and Snorlax.
Bonuses: All Trainers in Latin America can look forward to bonuses like earning double the hearts when adventuring with your buddy, 2× Incense duration, and a chance of a daily surprise encounter when you take GO Snapshots.
Weekend Rewards: A special Timed Research will be available every weekend from May 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. PDT to June 15, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Trainers who complete this Timed Research every weekend will be rewarded with items, like Razz Berries, Nanab Berries, Pinap Berries, Incense, Poké Balls, and Great Balls.
Limited-Time Boxes: Trainers in Latin America can look forward to the following boxes being available in the in-game shop for a limited time.
The companies shared the following four Spanish-language slogans meaning “It’s really awesome” that are used in different countries of the region: Está Bien Chido, Está Bien Bacán, Está Bien Chévere, and Está Bien Copado.
