You may have seen Captain Falco, Pacman, Samus, Bowser and Mario recently in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, but another close collaboration between Bandai Namco and Nintendo will bring fans a new look at the airplanes you’ll be flying in the upcoming 3DS Ace Combat game.
Fans of the aerial combat game franchise will be able to use their amiibo figures in the upcoming Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy+ to unlock aircraft skins related to their amiibo in use. Future users of the New Nintendo 3DS XL will be able to unlock exclusive amiibo skins (system update required).
According to Bandai Namco, “the character will also determine parameter settings for the aircraft.” An example, Mario’s amiibo skin will be seen in an F-22 aircraft (for aerial and ground attacks), while Bowser in an A-10A aircraft (ground attack).
Take a look at the images below. The game will make its debut on February 13, 2015.
