Sony Interactive Entertainment announced a PS5 price increase in various territories around the world due to the global economic environment.
Though the price increase will not affect the United States, it will affect select markets in Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Canada.
“While this price increase is a necessity given the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE’s business, our top priority continues to be improving the PS5 supply situation so that as many players as possible can experience everything that PS5 offers and what’s still to come,” wrote Jim Ryan, President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment.
This comes after Meta, parent company of Facebook, decided to increase the price of its Meta Quest 2 VR headset.
The new prices in the mentioned territories are effective immediately, except in Japan where it will happen on Sept. 15.
