At CES 2023, Nvidia announced it will bring its Nvidia GeForce Now cloud gaming service to vehicles, starting with automakers Hyundai Motor Group, BYD, and Polestar.
According to Nvidia, drivers and passengers will have lots of music, games and movies to enjoy while on-the-go. “Drivers and front seat passengers can access games while parked or charging, while those in the backseat of vehicles where rear entertainment is enabled can play anytime on the road.”
Hyundai vehicles will come with Nvidia Drive in-vehicle infotainment. Meanwhile, BYD will make use of the Nvidia Drive Hyperion, “an end-to-end, modular development platform and reference architecture for designing autonomous vehicles (AVs).”
Automaker Ploestar has picked Nvidia Drive Orin Soc (system-on-a-chip) that will work alongside Nvidia Drive for its software architecture.
“We are excited to offer our customers the best in technology, comfort, design from BYD and now the latest in gaming through NVIDIA GeForce NOW high-performance cloud gaming service,” said President of BYD and CEO of BYD America Stella Li Vice. “The experience of driving our cars is becoming increasingly sophisticated, entertaining and sustainable.”
Currently, GeForce NOW is offering over 1,500 games, including titles such as Fortnite and Destiny 2, as well as games from Steam, Epic Games Store, the EA app, Ubisoft and GOG.com.
The video shared by Nvidia shows drivers inside their parked cars playing games such as Rocket League. The games will be playable with the GeFroce NOW software for auto on Android and browser-based in-vehicle infotainment systems.
