EA has officially announced the first installment without the FIFA branding of a new soccer franchise, EA Sports FC, sharing its vision, identity and logo for the game to be released in 2023. Due to the licensing agreements it has in place, EA announced a new franchise based on the global sport that will still feature the same or a similar roster of players, teams, and stadiums after ending its partnership with the international soccer governing body, FIFA, last year.
EA Sports FC will become a “platform to create, innovate, and grow new football experiences” when it comes later this year, according to EA, which added this week. More information about EA Sports FC will be made public in July.
“This is where the story of EA SPORTS FC begins. We’re building on 30 years of leadership and history creating experiences that bring the global football community together, and continuing to take it into a fan-first future,” said Nick Wlodyka, SVP & GM at EA SPORTS FC. “EA SPORTS FC will be a symbol for the sport, a symbol of innovation and change, and we’re energized to show our fans more about the future in July.”
The split between FIFA and EA comes after FIFA wanted to charge EA $1 billion every four years for the organization’s licensing rights.
