A pesar de las escasas noticias en su última gran presentación en el CES 2012, Microsoft dio a conocer la llegada del sensor Kinect para Windows.

A partir del 1ro de febrero, el sensor saldrá a la venta en 12 países a un precio de $249 en cantidades limitadas, y vendrá acompañado del kit de desarrollo de software (SDK) para uso comercial y funcionará con Windows 7 y la versión preliminar de Windows 8 conocida como Developer Preview.

Con Kinect para Windows, varias empresas podrán aprovechar de la tecnología sin tener que pagar extra por el SDK o algún derecho de licencia permitiendo así una integración cómoda y más rápida del dispositivo. Microsoft ya está trabajando con doscientas empresas desarrollando aplicaciones PC. Aquellas aplicaciones servirán no solo servirán para juegos. Según un video, los gestos físicos se usan para hacer ejercícios y tocar instrumentos musicales.

“Tal como Kinect revolucionó los juegos, lo veremos revolucionar a otras industrias, como entretenimiento, salud y más”, dijo el jefe ejecutivo de Microsoft, Steve Ballmer.

El sensor Kinect para Windows ya puede pedirse por adelantado por medio de la tienda internet Amazon.

In spite of the little amount of news In its last major presentation at CES 2012, Microsoft announced the arrival of Kinect sensor for Windows.

Starting on February 1, the sensor will go on sale in 12 countries at a price of $ 249 in limited quantities and will be accompanied bythe software development kit (SDK) for commercial use and will work with Windows 7 and the pre-release version of Windows 8known as the Developer Preview.

With Kinect for Windows, several companies can take advantage of technology without having to pay extra for the SDK or licensing fee allowing a faster integration of the device. Microsoft is already working with two hundred companies developing PC applications. Those applications will not only serve for games. According to a video, physical gestures are used for exercise andplay musical instruments.

“Just as Kinect revolutionized gaming, we’ll see it revolutionize other industries, like entertainment, healthcare and more,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

The Kinect Sensor for Windows can now be pre-ordered via the Amazon online store.
