Apple and the new ‘new iPad’ | Apple y el nuevo ‘nuevo iPad’

[EN]: As many people expected, Apple was going to show the media the new iPad Mini. If you already have a ‘new iPad’ (3rd-gen), then you know what to expect (mostly). But then, Apple seems to have made some “new iPad” users upset when it unexpectedly mentioned the arrival of its 4th-generation iPad only six or seven months after lots of people formed lines to get the third-generation one.

While many Apple die-hard fans had gotten used to upgrading their iPad or iPhone every year or two, the company’s actions may have shocked a great number of its followers and many others.

The 3rd generation iPad, known originally as the ‘new iPad,’ is no longer available on Apple’s site. This upgrade is not an incremental one. With a new processor for the 4th-gen iPad (aka iPad with Retina display on Apple’s site) that offers twice the power of the CPU and graphics seen on the third-generation iPad, it seems like Apple has completely abandoned the ‘new iPad.’

Why is Apple doing this?

We can only assume. It might be that Apple wants to be on top again when it comes to new features. Android smartphones and tablets have been adding new features to different models of their devices, but only one company makes the iPhone and iPad, and Apple does not want to stay behind.

One factor that might have caused such a quick upgrade is the Lightning. It was revealed last month to be in the iPhone 5 and new iPod devices. The only one device that did not have Lightning was the soon-to-be-old ‘new iPad.’

The current ‘new iPad’ will still exist after the release of the new ‘new iPad’ as the iPad Mini. Same specifications, but with one exception: the new Lightning connection.

Question: How do you feel about the unexpected announcement of the 4th-generation iPad six or seven month after the release of the 3rd-generation one?

[ES]: Como mucha gente esperaba, Apple iba a mostrar a los medios el nuevo ‘iPad Mini’. Si ya dispones de un ‘nuevo iPad’, entonces sabes qué esperar (en su mayoría). Pero luego, Apple parece haber enfadado a algunos usuarios del “nuevo iPad” cuando inesperadamente se mencionó la llegada de su 4ta generación del iPad sólo seis o siete meses luego de que un montón de personas formaran líneas para obtener el de la tercera generación.

Si bien muchos fanáticos de Apple se habían acostumbrado a actualizar su iPad o iPhone cada uno o dos años, las acciones de la compañía p haber sorprendido a un gran número de sus seguidores y a muchos otros.

El iPad de 3ª generación, conocido originalmente como el “nuevo iPad”, ya no está disponible en el sitio de Apple. Esta actualización no es una incremental . Con un nuevo procesador para el iPad cuarta generación (también conocido como el iPad con pantalla Retina en el sitio de Apple) que ofrece el doble de potencia de CPU y gráficos visto en el iPad de la 3ra generación, parece que Apple ya ha abandonado por completo en ‘nuevo iPad’.

¿Por qué está Apple haciendo esto?

Sólo podemos asumir. Puede ser que Apple quiere estar en la cima de nuevo cuando se trata de nuevas características. Los teléfonos inteligentes y tabletas Android han ido añadiendo nuevas características a los diferentes modelos de sus dispositivos, pero sólo una empresa hace que el iPhone y el iPad, y Apple no quiere quedarse atrás.

Un factor que podría haber causado una mejora tan rápida es Lightning (Rayo). Se reveló el mes pasado al estar en el iPhone 5 y en los nuevos dispositivos iPod. El único dispositivo que no tenía Lightning era el viejo ‘nuevo iPad’ que pronto ya será el viejo ‘nuevo iPad’.

El actual  ‘nuevo iPad’ seguirá existiendo después del lanzamiento del nuevo nuevo ‘nuevo iPad’ como el iPad Mini. Las mismas especificaciones, pero con una excepción: la nueva conexión Lightning.
