A photo of an off-screen image of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed title has made the rounds online, and sources have indeed confirmed it is real.
The image was first posted by user “shoutouttoashraf” on Reddit. Even though the post remains, the mentioned user deleted his account.
So, what’s in the image anyway? A man appears on a boat, wearing a shield on his back while wielding a bow and arrow. This means boats will return once again to AC games.
A text in the image also says: “Follow Shadya to Khenut’s Villa.” As seen on Wikipedia: “Khenut was a Queen of Egypt, the wife of King Unas. She lived during the time of the Fifth dynasty of Egypt. She was maybe a mother of Queen Iput I.” This confirms the upcoming game will take place in Egypt after the website Kotaku had mentioned it last year. The leaked image also reveals the “Assassinate the Crocodile” mission.
So far, three different Eurogamer sources were able to confirm the image is legitimate after a report on WWG.com revealed the name of the upcoming game as Assassin’s Creed: Origins and that it will be a prequel. EuroGamer sources were later able to confirm the name of the game, that it’ll be a prequel and that it will be released later this year for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4.
