Today during Nacon Connect 2020, Nacon finally revealed the long-awaited Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown.
For veterans fans of the franchise, the name Solar Crown may be familiar as it is “the name of the competition we had in the previous Test Drive Unlimited game,” said Alain Jarniou, Creative Director at KT Racing. He worked in the previous Test Drive Unlimited 1 & 2 games.
Solar Crown won’t be a game in which gamers will be told to do certain things, but more of an open-world driving and lifestyle experience. “We wanted to give players a variety of things to do and the freedom to progress through the game however they want.” Jarniou said the new title will keep “the DNA of the game, but also evolving the gameplay and game modes to make them more modern.”
The previous game in the franchise, Test Drive Unlimited 2, was released in early 2011, so it’s been a long wait for true fans who grew up playing Test Drive that made its debut in 1987 in PCs.
Fans will see cars from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti as well as lots of customization options, a 1:1 island “for authenticity,” and more.
Jarniou wasn’t able to give a precise release date “because we want to spend time perfecting the game, improving the technology and game experience.”
For now, you can take a look at the game’s Steam page [https://store.steampowered.com/app/1249970/Test_Drive_Unlimited_Solar_Crown/], the game’s trailer and the entire Nacon Connect 2020 presentation.
