Even with the debut of various new games, Splatoon 3 maintained first place one more time in the Japan game sales charts for the week of October 24-30, 2022. Not even new games released on multiple platforms weren’t enough to catch up to Splatoon 3.
The action/adventure title Bayonetta 3 arrived in second place with 41,285 Switch copies sold. However, Star Ocean: The Divine Force, which made its debut in 3rd place with 27,001 PS4 copies sold and 17,177 PS5 copies sold, had more copies sold overall with 44,178.
Also, more copies overall of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 were sold when compared to Bayonetta 3. There were 24,371 PS4 copies and 17,710 PS5 copies sold for a total of 42,081.
In 5th place, the fishing simulation game Tsuri Spirits: Tsutte Asoberu Suizokukan (aka Ace angler: Fishing Spirits) made its Switch debut with 23,297 copies sold. In 8th place, the visual novel Aquarium. appeared in the charts with 13,199 copies sold. The simulation game Needy Streamer Overload arrived to Switch with 11,693 copies sold during its premiere week.
Two other popular franchises also made it into the charts. Resident Evil Village Z Version Gold Edition arrived in 12th place with 6,188 PS4 copies sold and 4,219 PS5 copies sold, for a total of 10,407. Ending the list of new titles for the week is The King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition landing in 28th place with 1,917 PS4 copies sold.
