[EN]: Though it’s just less than two days before the release of the Wii U, Nintendo informed the media this morning via a press release that the console will not have a few of its main features ready for launch.
The Nintendo TVii service will not be activated until sometime in December and its built-in video service apps (YouTube, Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video) won’t be available until the coming weeks.
No explanations were given for the delay.
Are you disappointed you still have to wait for the TVii to work? May be. Maybe not. As long as it lets me plays games (like Nintendo Land and New Super Mario Bros. U) and lets me surf the web with the tablet, that’s fine with me. I’m sure certain people in NY wish they had the console now, but will be the lucky ones in getting the Wii U first.
Also, all services (besides the video ones) should work on launch day, including compatibility with Wii games. It is still unknown if a system update will be needed for new owners, but certain members of the media that received the console in advance will need to do a firmware update.
