While Nintendo keeps its dominance in Japanese game console sales for the week of September 9-15, 2024, Sony is slowly selling less PS5 consoles since the recent price increase in Japan.
For the mentioned week, Nintendo sold 50,574 Switch consoles, while Sony managed to sell just 10,095 PS5 units. This indicates that Nintendo is selling five times more consoles in Japan compared to Sony. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s sales remain below 1,000 units, with only 675 Xbox Series consoles sold.
Will the PS5 Pro and newer Xbox Series models bring any meaningful change to Nintendo’s lead in Japan game console sales despite the higher price? Stay tuned.
